<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reuse frequency when a reference signal (pilot) of a single frequency network (SFN) is multiplexed in a downlink of a wireless communication system. <P>SOLUTION: When SFN transmission for data occurs, a location in time of a sub-frame is determined and a first transmission pattern and a second transmission pattern for the reference signals are determined, wherein the transmission patterns indicate the symbols and tones of the sub-frame used for the reference signals. Furthermore, it is selected whether the first transmission pattern is used or the second transmission pattern is used for the reference signals depending on whether SFN data is transmitted in the sub-frame.
