Soda slag produced in the desulphurization of pig iron is substituted wholly or partly for Portland cement in the manufacture of ordinary or refractory hydraulic cements, fast-setting cement made from blast-furnace slag, and refractory mortars and tamping compositions. A hydraulic material can be obtained by grinding soda slag with quartz sand, and building blocks and other shaped bodies can be made from mixes containing granulated blast furnace slag, sand, ashes, sawdust or other fillings, and cement or lime containing a small amount of soda slag.
|
