The device (1) has stationary base (10) in which inlet rollers (20,25,30) and folding wheel (40) are rotatably mounted for contacting material web (2). The folding wheel forms two respective boom sections that contact partial webs (2.1,2.2) for longitudinally folding partial webs about external peripheral contact surface (41) of folding wheel toward two side surfaces (42,43). The folded web is discharged through gap formed between outlet rollers (50,55) whose rotational axis is perpendicular to that of folding wheel and extends parallel to a width direction of discharged web.
