PURPOSE: An antenna controlling apparatus and a satellite detecting method using the same are provided to easily operate a mobile satellite antenna system by providing an automatic satellite detecting function. CONSTITUTION: An input part(110) receives target satellite information. A calculating part(130) calculates an orientation angle based on the target satellite information and position information of a satellite antenna. A controller(140) sets the orientation angle of the satellite as a target satellite position. The satellite has a maximum signal strength among the satellites located within an error range. A transceiver(120) transmits or receives data to or from a GPS satellite and a direction sensor.
