PURPOSE: A method and a mobile communication unit for providing a supplementary service according to a call connection event in a mobile communication unit are provided to supply a desirable additional service to a user through a call event based on a call connection with a mobile communication terminal of another party. CONSTITUTION: According to a call event, an originating terminal(100_1) provides a user with additional service guide information. The originating terminal requests a video call mode switching service. An originating MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(241) requests the service from a reception MSC(242). A reception terminal(100_2) displays a video call mode switching message. If an admission key of the user is sensed, the reception terminal is switched into a video communication mode.
