<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ratchet wrench having a free-size socket. <P>SOLUTION: A wrench 20 includes a ratchet mechanism 8 at the end of a handle body 7. A plurality of first cell bars 11 are housed in a first housing chamber 1h penetrating the central section of a ratchet wheel 8a, and its axial center is concentrically arranged in the first housing chamber 1h. A first cell guide plate 12 is movably arranged inside the first housing chamber 1h. A first cell engaging plate 13 covers the first housing chamber 1h from the other end-face side of the ratchet wheel 8a. The first housing chamber 1h has: a prism fitting opening 11h of right hexagonal form that is open at one end-face side of the ratchet wheel 8a and can be fitted to a head of a bolt or a nut with large opening width; and a round opening 12h penetrating the other end-face side of the ratchet wheel 8a in a manner that it may be communicated with the prism fitting opening 11h and be circumscribed to it.
