<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a negative electrode active material used for a negative electrode to obtain a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery high in capacity and energy density, and also excellent in charge/discharge cycle characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: a positive electrode including a positive electrode active material; a negative electrode including a negative electrode active material; and a nonaqueous electrolyte. In the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a mixture of at least one metal and a carbon material is used as the negative electrode active material, the one metal having an average particle size of 0.25 μm or more and 100 μm or less and being selected from zinc and cadmium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
