OPTICAL PICKUP DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device that reads out signals recorded on optical disks of different standards by using laser beams having different wave lengths.

SOLUTION: The optical pickup device includes a second polarization beam splitter 7 on which a laser beam emitted from a two-wavelength laser diode 3 is incident through a divergence lens 5 and which guides the laser beam emitted from the two-wavelength laser diode 3 toward an objective lens and guides a laser beam reflected from a signal recording layer of each optical disk toward a photodetector 16. The optical axis misalignment of the divergence lens 5 is corrected by displacing the second polarization beam splitter 7 in directions of the optical axes of a reflected second laser beam and a reflected third laser beam.
