A collecting apparatus for use in conjunction with apparatus discharging textile workpieces, comprises a cylindrical container into which the workpieces are fed seriation via guide means and pushed against a radial partition which moves as the collection builds up, the pushing means operating in response to passage of a workpiece over the guide means. The workpieces 17 issuing from a machine 16 fed by belts 62, 63 past an air jet type detector 103, 104 which causes a cutter 101 to sever the threads between the pieces. A further jet 72 assists guides 71 in directing each piece down between a guide 75 and a tamping plate 76, both extending into the container 30. The container is rotatable relative to the guides on rollers 32 and has a partition 31 fixed within it. The plate 76 is actuated by a workpiece detector 90 to .push each piece through a gap 81 in the guide 75 to join the stack against the partition, retaining fingers 87 rising and descending behind the piece to retain it with the stack. The container is indexed to move the partition in response to movement of the workpiece past the detector 90. Finally a stop 111 contacts a limit switch 110 to stop the machine and illuminate a lamp 112 so that an operator may remove the group of pieces. |
