1,224,216. Gravitational discharge of a floating package of liquid. H. J. STAUBER. 6 May, 1968 [19 May, 1967], No. 21297/68. Heading B7A. A method of emptying a liquid mass from a collapsible container which is floating on a waterway consists in anchoring the floating container to a yoke at a discharge place on the waterway, connecting by a pipe the anchored container to a receiver and either raising one end of the anchored container relative to the receiver or, in the case of a tidal waterway, maintaining the container at a level above the receiver, so as to discharge the contents of the container into the receiver by gravity flow. In the method described, the receiver is an onshore reservoir at a lower level than the container which may be lifted at one end by a crane. The container may also be raised by floating a support underneath one end or an adjustable treadle may be floated under the container at high tide.
|
