An electrical connector including a housing (11) provided with an open i ng (12) through which a flat circuit device (40) is inserted into the housing (11), a plurality of conductive contacts (13) arranged on the housing (11), a conductive shell (14) mounted on the housing (11) for covering partially the same and provided with a holding member (20) for engaging with the flat circuit device (40) inserted in the housing (11) to hold the same, and a releasing member (30) formed in the housing (11) with a first end portion (33) thereof operative to be in contact with the holding member (20) and a second end portion (32) thereof operative to project from the inside to the outside of the conductive shell (14), wherein the releasing member (30) is moved so that the first end potion (32) thereof causes the holding member (20) to be released from engagement with the flat circuit device (40) inserted in the housing (11) when the second end portion (32) thereof is pushed toward the inside of the conductive shell (14) under a condition wherein the holding member (20) is put in the engagement with the flat circuit device (40) inserted in the housing (11). |
