<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device used by setting a manuscript with excellent workability without taking out a whole device from a narrow space. <P>SOLUTION: A scanner part 2 of a composite machine 1 includes: a contact image sensor (CIS) unit for reading an image recorded on a manuscript MS; and an auto document feeder (ADF) 5 including an ADF body 27 having a separation roller 31, etc. for conveying the manuscript MS to the CIS unit, and a paper feed tray 22 configured to set the manuscript MS conveyed by the separation roller 31, etc. and to be drawn out from the ADF body 27 along a front-rear direction.
