<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift unit, in which a shift position is changed by an operation and the drive quantity of a drive part is made small. <P>SOLUTION: In a shift lever unit 10, a link 24 is connected to a plunger 34 of a solenoid 32, thereby a stopper 46 can be moved linked with the link 24. When a shift lever 18 is abutted on the stopper surface 52 of the stopper 46, the stopper 46 blocks the operation of the shift lever 18. Here, when the shift lever 18 is abutted on a slope part 54 of the stopper 46, since the stopper 46 is moved relatively to the plunger 34 by the shift lever 18, the operation of the shift lever 18 is permitted. Thereby, when the operation of the shift lever 18 is permitted, since the stopper 46 is moved by the shift lever 18, it is not necessary that the stopper 46 is moved from the position abutted on the shift lever 18 on the stopper surface 52 to an position not abutted on the shift lever 18 by the movement of the plunger 34.
