<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve futility of a sheet of paper and an ink ribbon and to effectively improve reliability by avoiding generation of poor printing by informing a user of abnormality before an erroneous detection and the impossibility of detection of a sheet of paper end part detecting means occur. <P>SOLUTION: A printer includes the paper end part detecting means 16 which keeps a plurality of detecting parts 17a arranged in the arranging direction of a heating resistor 11a near a printing part 1 and optically detects an end part of the sheet of paper 12 in the line direction on the basis of a reflection from the sheet of paper 12, and newly includes: a foreign substance detecting means 17 for detecting the reflection changing in accordance with a sticking state of the foreign substance on the paper end part detecting means 16; a judging means 2a for judging whether the amount of sticking of the foreign substance is on an abnormal generating level or not on the basis of the detected value detected from this foreign substance detecting means 17; and an informing means 3 for performing an output for informing the user of the same when it is judged to be the abnormal generating level by this judging means 2a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
