FILTER AND METHOD FOR BACKWASHING FILTER MEDIUM

PURPOSE: A filtering apparatus and a backwashing method for filtering media are provided to prevent the reduction of facility efficiency in a backwashing process due to the blocking of wastewater by backwashing polluted filtering media in a separate backwashing chamber. CONSTITUTION: A filtering apparatus includes a filtering column(10). The filtering column is filled with filtering media(15). A wastewater inlet(11) is formed at one side of the filtering column. A treated water outlet(12) is formed at another side of the filtering column. A filtering media discharging pipe(31) is in connection with the lower side of the filtering column. A backwashing chamber(20) is in connection with the filtering media discharging pipe and supplies backwashing water and air through one part of the backwashing chamber. A backwashing water outlet(23) is formed another part of the backwashing chamber. Filtering media supplying pipes(33, 37) supply filtering media from the backwashing chamber to the filtering column.
