PURPOSE: A molybdenum catalyst, a method for manufacturing the same, and a method for manufacturing methane using the catalyst are provided to save costs required for manufacturing processes and to obtain methane under atmosphere containing sulfur. CONSTITUTION: A molybdenum catalyst includes molybdenum supported in a support. The molybdenum catalyst is used for manufacturing methane. The support is one selected from a group including zirconia, YSZ, ceria-zirconia, alumina, ceria, titania, silica, and silica-alumina. The content of molybdenum in the catalyst is 1 to 90 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the catalyst. Nickel is further supported in the support. The content of the nickel is 0.05 to 20 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the catalyst.
