PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple structure electric power steering device, reducing operating force of a steering wheel, solving narrow feeling of a worker by expanding a space around a driver's feet as far as possible, enabling/facilitating change of a specification, and protecting a steering wheel shaft. SOLUTION: A strut 5 with a C-shaped cross section turning an opening portion 4 forward is raised from a floor frame 3 at a rear part of the steering wheel shaft portion 2, and an operating handle shaft portion 1 is held in the strut 5 with the C-shaped cross section. An electric assist motor portion 6 drive-connected to the steering wheel shaft portion 2 is supported on the opening portion 4 side of the strut 5 with the C-shaped cross section. A steering unit 17 is provided at a lower part of the floor frame 3 at a lower end of the steering wheel shaft portion 2.
