PURPOSE: A gesture recognition method of a un-touch method and apparatus thereof are provided to control a terminal with content by recognizing the gesture of a user. CONSTITUTION: A distance calculation unit(640) calculates the sensing information of a sensor(600) in a predetermined section. When the sensing information of the sensor is matched with the sensing information of the predetermined section, a storage unit(660) stores the sensing information. A gesture recognition unit(670) recognizes gesture from the sensing information. The storage unit stores the sensing information during a predetermined time. The sensor is arranged at the boundary of a screen. The gesture recognition unit recognizes the gesture by using the change of a time flow in an object sensing area.
