<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when a vertically arranged nozzle surface having a nozzle array for ejecting liquids of different colors is sealed with the same cap and suction is carried out from the nozzles, thereby performing a recovery operation, color mixture occurs. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus controls: a sucking operation in which the nozzle surface 124 is capped with the suction cap 92a and the suction pump 96 is driven to suck liquid from the nozzle 124a; a pressurizing operation in which after the sucking operation, a supply pump 13 is normally driven to feed ink to a head tank 29, thereby applying pressure; a discharging operation in which after the atmosphere is released from a sealed space 194 by opening an atmosphere release value 98, ink remaining in the suction cap 92a is discharged; a negative pressure generating operation in which after the discharging operation, the supply pump 13 is reversely driven to suck ink from the head tank 29, thereby generating negative pressure in the head tank 29; and an operation in which after the negative pressure generating operation, the suction cap 92a is separated from the nozzle surface 124. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
