The steel axle rod for the roller is clad by a plastic or corrosion-resistant metal moulding attached to the spindle by deep-drawn shoulders fitting on mounting studs and secured by a single bolt. The bearings are encapsulated in plaastic. Apart from axle and bearings, all parts are of corrosion-resistant materials which reduces maintenance time and prevents any rust or other corrosion being transferred to the material being processed.
