<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system which facilitates the attachment work of a substrate cover. <P>SOLUTION: A lighting system includes a cold cathode tube 17, a chassis 14 in which the cold cathode tube 17 is housed, a control substrate 40 attached to the chassis 14, and a substrate cover 60 attached to the chassis 14 and arranged so as to cover the control substrate 40. Hook pieces 70, each of which protrudes toward the substrate cover 60, are provided at attachment positions of the substrate cover 60 in the chassis 14, and each hook piece 70 is formed by folding a part of the chassis 14 toward the substrate cover 60 and erecting the part.
