PURPOSE: A broadcasting receiver and a set-top box are provided to prevent the deterioration of cable television broadcast signal quality. CONSTITUTION: A receiving unit(113) receives a CATV broadcasting signal through a coaxial line(2). A transmitting unit(112) transmits network signal having larger bandwidth than the cable television broadcast signal through the coaxial line. If an empty frequency band exists among frequency bands which is allocated for the cable television broadcast signal transmission purpose, a control unit(12) performs control for constructing network in the coaxial line.
