PURPOSE: A polypeptide associated with deoxynojirimycin(DNJ) biosynthesis and a gene group encoding the same are provided to produce deoxynojirimycin derivatives and to develop a pathogenic virus inhibitor. CONSTITUTION: A deoxynojirimycin(DNJ) biosynthesis-associated protein has an amino acid sequence of sequence number 11. A nucleic acid molecule relating to DNJ biosynthesis contains: a) a base sequence encoding an amino acid sequence of sequence number 11; b) a base sequence which is complementary to the base sequence of a); or c) a base sequence which is hybridizable with the base sequence of a) or b).
