INDUSTRIAL ROLL WITH MULTIPLE SENSOR ARRAYS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved sensing system included in an industrial roll which further includes a substantially cylindrical core having an outer surface and a polymeric cover circumferentially overlying the core outer surface.

SOLUTION: The sensing system of a roll 120 includes: a first signal carrying member 1281 serially connecting a first set of sensors 1301; a second signal carrying member 1282 serially connecting a second set of sensors 1302; and a signal processing unit operatively associated with the first and second signal carrying members and configured to selectively monitor the signals provided by the first and second set of sensors.
