<p>A (meth)acrylated polyvinylpyrrolidone of the general structure depicted below, suitable for use as a polymerizable wetting agent in a contact lens formulation: H - R3 O R2n R4 wherein R, is hydrogen or CI-8-alkyl, preferably H; R2 is pyrrolidinone; n = 1 - 10,000; R3 is a divalent aliphatic linkage chain containing up to 8 carbon atoms and up to 2 oxygen, sulfur, and/or nitrogen atoms in the linkage chain, such as C(CH 3)2-CH2-CH2, C(CH 3)2, S-(CH 2 )2, C(CH 3)-O C(=0)-NH-(CH 2)2, C;(CH3)-CH 2-CH2-O-C(=0)-NH-(CH 2)2, or S-(CH 2)2-O-C(=0)-N H-(CH 2)2; and R4 is hydrogen or C1.s-alkyl, such as CH3.</p> |
