DISPLAY DEVICE AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A display device and a driving method thereof are provided to prevent an excess current by comparing a conversion current value and an excess current protection current value and creating a scale factor. CONSTITUTION: A gradation converter(150) changes a scale factor of a current frame into gradation of a pixel data signal of the current frame. A scale factor generating unit(160) creates the scale factor of the current frame by comparing a conversion current value with an excess current protection current value. The excess current protection current value is bigger than a reference current value and is smaller than maximum current consumption value of a display panel(100). The conversion current value is a current consumption value of the display panel by the pixel data signal. The display panel comprises a plurality of pixels.
