PURPOSE: A distance measuring device and a control method thereof are provided to accurately calculate a distance from an object by alternately irradiating light to the object with two light sources. CONSTITUTION: A distance measuring device(100) comprises a first light source(110), a second light source(120), a detecting unit(130), and a control unit(140). The first light source irradiates light to measure a distance. The second light source is arranged at an interval from the first light source and irradiates light to measure a distance. The detecting unit detects light of the first and second light sources, which has been reflected onto an object. The control unit controls the first and second light sources to alternately irradiate light from a predetermined region to measure a distance.
