The invention relates to a method for separating in particular cuboidal articles of different sizes for the automated sensing of machine-readable markings which are present on each article. The article is introduced into a holder (1) of a separating installation and separated by means of a series of three separating conveying belts (4, 5, 6, 7) arranged in series. The running directions of the separating conveying belts are arranged in each case at right angles to the running direction of the preceding separating conveying belt, and the running speed of each following separating conveying belt is higher than that of the preceding one. The first separating belt (4) is an ascending conveying belt. Following separation, a slide (8) is provided, and this slide can be moved transversely to the running direction of the final separating belt, interacts with a side wall (16), oriented parallel to the running direction, and aligns the articles. The articles are then measured in all three directions of space. Thereafter, the position is compared with a stored, desired position; if the positions correspond, the article is transferred to a delivery point (17) and, if they do not correspond, the article is guided back into the holder (1) of the separating installation. |
