<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antioxidant which suppresses the deterioration of physical properties, and can be used for various applications of food and drink, pharmaceuticals, etc., and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The antioxidant contains, as an active ingredient, an extract obtained by subjecting royal jelly, that is an extraction raw material, to extractive treatment using a subcritical fluid.
