<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water retentive block which: can prevent a heat island phenomenon without necessitating a special water retentive material; satisfies a performance as an interlocking block for paving; does not require a material to cover an upper part of a hollow portion of the block; has no dent across an entire surface; has enough strength to allow a pedestrian to walk thereon; can easily improve a travelling performance of a cart; and can be manufactured without an occurrence of color shading by a more economical and easier method than a conventional method of manufacturing a water retentive block. <P>SOLUTION: When water retentive concrete blocks are laid down in place, an area covered by a water retentive concrete section which has a porosity of 9% to 25% (or a filling rate of 75% to 91%) and a pavement plane at a level about the same as the blocks accounts for 20% to 60% of the area of the pavement plane that the blocks cover. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
