摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device performing display by a field sequential method, whose image quality deterioration is suppressed and power consumption of a backlight is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A signal with the highest grayscale is detected from among a first color to be displayed in one region obtained by dividing plural pixels arranged in matrix in a row direction, gamma correction is performed so as to reduce the transmittance of a pixel in accordance with the proportion that the grayscale decreases with the transmittance of the pixel displaying the signal set as the maximum, and the region is irradiated with light with the first color at the intensity at which display corresponding to the detected grayscale is performed. Further, a second color is displayed in another region at the same time as the first color by a method similar to the first color, so that the input of an image signal and lighting of a backlight are sequentially performed for every particular region of a pixel portion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
