<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user interface device and a user interface method with which the more accurate input can be performed by changing the layout of the buttons and the input regions in accordance with the surroundings such as underwater or highland. <P>SOLUTION: A user interface device 100 has a touch panel unit 110, a pressure detection part 120, and a layout control part 130. The pressure detection part 120 detects water pressure and outputs the value of water pressure detected to the layout control part 130. The layout control part 130 compares the value of water pressure and the threshold value preset and reduces the number of the buttons and the input regions of the touch panel when the water pressure exceeds the threshold value and changes the layout so that the size thereof becomes larger.
