The foil bag (1) is made of foil (2), where the foil has a non-sealable layer at its side, which forms an external layer of the foil bag. The foil has a sealable layer adjacent to the external layer. The right and left side gussets (5) are placed between a front wall (3) and a rear wall (4). A foot section (14) is provided in an opening assigned as foot area (8) for formation of an edge side rim (10). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for closing a foil bag; and (2) a device for a filling- or closing machine for closing a foil bag.
