A base station (103a) comprises a base station control unit (127a) that determines, on the basis of both the position information of a wireless communication terminal (101) and MIMO communication-capable area information of adjacent base stations (103b, 103c) that are adjacent to the base station (103a), a MIMO communication-capable adjacent base station as a handover destination so as to hand over the wireless communication terminal (101) thereto.
