<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine evaluation parameters for imparting refractive index dispersion characteristics of a nonlinear optical crystal constituting a wavelength conversion element without depending on Sellmeier dispersion formula. <P>SOLUTION: A method for evaluation of refractive index dispersion comprises: a step of determining an evaluation parameter α given as a difference between a refractive index (n<SB POS="POST">Q</SB>) to QMP wavelength (λ<SB POS="POST">Q</SB>) and a refractive index (N<SB POS="POST">Q</SB>) to SHG wavelength of a nonlinear optical crystal based on the SHG spectra; a step of determining an evaluation parameter β given as a difference between a value of half a linear dispersion value (δN<SB POS="POST">Q</SB>/δλ)of the refractive index of the SHG wavelength band and a linear dispersion value (δn<SB POS="POST">Q</SB>/δλ) of the refractive index of the QPM wavelength band of a nonlinear optical crystal based on the SHG spectra; and a step of determining an evaluation parameter γ given as a value of half a second dispersion value (δ<SP POS="POST">2</SP>n<SB POS="POST">Q</SB>/δλ<SP POS="POST">2</SP>) of the refractive index of the wavelength band satisfying the phase matching conditions of a nonlinear optical crystal based on the DFG spectra. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
