The adapter (10) has two pipe sectors (11, 12) sealable by a sealing ring, and joined at the flanges (13, 14) by bolts (16) through apertures (15). One of the pipe sector is has a groove-like a recess in its surface facing the other pipe sector, in which the sealing ring fits. An annular body (25) closes the circumferential gap (20) in the region of the outer cover.
