Disclosed are a rotor and an IPM motor that can resolve the occurrence of magnetic flux being concentrated in a corner angle region on the stator side of a magnet, reducing a demagnetizing field resulting in a decrease in requested coercive force, as well as decreasing cost by reducing the amount of dysprosium or the like that is used. Of the slots opened in the rotor core of a rotor that configures the motor, a protrusion or a recessed groove is formed at the slot surface that is on the center side of the rotor core and/or the slot surface on the stator side that faces said slot surface. A magnet recessed groove or protrusion that engages the protrusion or recessed groove of the slot surface is formed on a magnet that is housed in the slot. The recessed groove or protrusion of each of the slot and magnet are caused to engage each other, forming an engaged section, and the magnet is positioned and affixed within the rotor by this engaged section. A flux barrier provided with the thickness of the magnet is formed between the slot surface and the flank surface of said magnet.
|
