摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical transmitter capable of eliminating the need for polarization tracking for polarization separation on the receiving side, reducing interference between two polarized waves during polarization separation, and generating a polarization multiple signal with high yield strength against intersymbol interference without necessity of a plurality of light sources on the transmission side or giving offset to a carrier frequency of the two orthogonal polarized waves. <P>SOLUTION: An optical transmitter includes: a light source 11; a light branch section 12 that separates the light emitted from the light source 11 into first light and second light of polarized waves orthogonal to each other; a DPSK transmission part 13 that generates a DPSK signal subjected to DPSK modulation for the first light; a zero chirp &pi;/2 transmission part 14 that generates a zero chirp &pi;/2 shift DPSK signal subjected to zero chirp &pi;/2 shift DPSK modulation for the second light; and a polarization multiplex part 15 that polarization multiplexes a DPSK signal and a zero chirp &pi;/2 shift DPSK signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
