PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of easily manufacturing an optical element superior in uniformity of film thickness in a valid pixel area. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing an optical element includes steps of: applying a first solution including a luminous material and a first solvent into a pixel area surrounded by a partition wall; removing the first solvent included in the applied first solution; applying a second solvent differed in surface tension from the first solvent within the pixel area before perfectly drying the applied first solution; and drying the applied first solution and second solvent.
