<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for completing a process for starting a desired application with less operation man-hours and in a shorter time when a mobile equipment is used in combination with an on-vehicle equipment. <P>SOLUTION: A system comprises on-vehicle equipment mounted on a vehicle and communicates with mobile equipment having an information processing function, and functional information retaining means for retaining functional information for specifying functions of a device mounted on the vehicle. The mobile equipment automatically starts a program corresponding to the application so that a user can use the application corresponding to the functional information in response to reading the functional information retained by the functional information retaining means of the mounted device. After the program is started, connection to the mounted device is established via the on-vehicle equipment.
