<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality image processing method in which occurrence of a light/dark stripe is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing method for an image reader which reads a document image by disposing image sensors 13 partially overlapping each other comprises: a step of black/white correction on each piece of image data output by the sensors; a step of deviation correction in the sub-scanning direction of each piece of corrected image data; a brightness correction processing step (processing D) which corrects the brightness of an image so that the average values of the pixel values of the overlapping areas of the sensors are coincident; and an image connection processing step for reproducing an image by connecting each piece of brightness-corrected image data. The brightness correction processing step calculates the evaluation value of a correction gain using the luminance value of an area in which the average luminance of the overlapping area is calculated, and when the evaluation value exceeds a threshold, the calculation is regarded as an error, and correction gains in the range of generating the arithmetic error are interpolated from correction gains before and after the generation of the error. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
