PURPOSE: A monitoring apparatus for a side guide is provided to easily recognize an abnormal operation and a faulty position of a side guide by displaying the moving distance of a side arm through an output unit. CONSTITUTION: A monitoring apparatus for a side guide comprises a transfer amount measuring unit(40), a control unit(50), and an output unit(60). The transfer amount measuring unit measures the moving distance of a side arm(12). The control unit receives a measured value from the transfer amount measuring unit and compares the measured value with a set value. The output unit is connected to the control unit and outputs the moving distance of the side arm. The side arm comprises a first side arm(14) for moving a first guide(16) arranging one side of a material and a second side arm(18) for moving a second guide(19) arranging the other side of the material.
