PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling posture and a method thereof are provided to improve health state of a user and to enable the user to take a rest. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling posture comprises: a plurality of air pockets(11) in which air volume is independently controlled; a plurality of air control units(12) which control the shape of each air pocket; a plurality of backbone shape measurement parts(13) which measure the backbone shape of a user by measuring the shape of a plurality of air pockets; a main control unit(14) which controls a plurality of air control units; and a plurality of discrete operation units(15).
