METHOD AND TOOL FOR DIAGNOSING THE OPERATION OF THE EQUIPMENT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

The subject of the invention is a method of diagnosing a malfunction of an item of equipment of a motor vehicle. This method consists in instructing from a functional computer (2) a request for executing a routine for processing the vehicle instrument operating information previously stored by an embedded computer (1) on board the vehicle. A prohibition to transmit operating information is generated prior to an action of prohibiting storage of additional operating information, and to an action of verifying the operating information. This verifying consists in identifying spurious information, and either in preventing execution of the routine and compiling a failure report (17) in the case of identification of spurious information such as this, or in permitting the execution of the routine and compiling an operating overview (16).
