Embodiments of the present invention relate to a location update method, device, and system. When a need to execute a location update is detected in a first mobile communication network, a request message containing instructions is sent to a mobile management device in the first mobile communication network so as to enable the mobile management device in the first mobile communication network to send a request message to a mobile management device in a second mobile communication network once a location update is executed, thereby triggering the mobile management device in the second mobile communication network to reset the periodic update timer. This enables a single-sim-dual-standby user equipment to carry out a location update in a first mobile communication network and a second mobile communication network simultaneously, avoiding the problem in the prior art of a single-sim-dual-standby user equipment requiring continuous activation for a location update to be executed, and thereby effectively reducing the amount of unnecessary energy consumption by a single-sim-dual-standby user equipment.
