<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a display quality of a liquid crystal display device in which a plurality of openings are formed on an electrode. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises a first substrate having a first electrode on one surface, a second substrate having a second electrode on one surface and a liquid crystal layer which is provided between the first substrate and the second substrate and is controlled to a substantially vertical orientation having a pretilt angle that is smaller than 90°. The first electrode has a plurality of rectangular openings regularly disposed. The plurality of openings are disposed so that the relative angle between each of the lateral directions and the orientation direction of liquid crystal molecules at substantially a center of the liquid in a layer thickness direction of the liquid crystal layer is in the range of 5° to 15°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
