<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rank results of search according to a new function, that is, a click distance. <P>SOLUTION: Results of search of search queries on a network are ranked according to additional click distance characteristics associated with each of documents on the network. A click distance is the number of times of clicks from a certain page or from a page on the network which is designated as the highest authority on the network or a root page, or is a measured value by user navigation.
