Disclosed is a retainer for a ball bearing, wherein a plurality of semispherical pockets (12) are formed, at locations in the circumferential direction, in opposing surfaces (11) of two annular elements (10) facing each other in the axial direction; and the opposing surfaces (11) are abutted with each other to connect the two annular elements (10). The outer diameter-side portions between the adjacent pockets (12) of one annular element (10) are extended in the axial direction, to form outer diameter-side protrusions (13), and the inner diameter-side portions are recessed to form inner diameter-side recesses (14). The inner diameter-side portions between the adjacent pockets (12) of the other annular element (10) are extended in the axial direction, to form inner diameter-side protrusions (15), and the outer diameter-side portions are recessed to form outer diameter-side recesses (16). The outer diameter-side protrusions (13) are inserted to the outer diameter-side recesses (16), and the inner diameter-side protrusions (15) are inserted to the inner diameter-side recesses (14), so that the outer diameter-side protrusions (13) and the inner diameter-side protrusions (15) are engaged in the axial direction, and engagement surfaces (13a, 15a) between the outer diameter-side protrusions (13) and the inner diameter-side protrusions (15) are inclined with respect to the axial direction so that the thickness of the tip end sides of the outer diameter-side protrusions (13) and the inner diameter-side protrusions (15) is larger than the thickness of the base end sides.
