<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relatively compact and thin radio authentication module and radio authentication system for performing not only local and single authentication processing but also periodic authentication processing with a prescribed interval even in an area which is wide to some extent. <P>SOLUTION: A radio authentication system 1 is provided with an RFID card 10 for performing both passive communication and active communication. A system control part 21 is configured to transmit a request signal for passive communication, and to, when receiving a passive response signal, perform authentication processing based on the passive response signal. When becoming unable to receive the request signal after one time passive communication, the RFID card 10 transmits an active authentication signal.
