<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator with interior shelves effectively illuminating even the rear side of the interior shelves. <P>SOLUTION: The refrigerator includes: a storage chamber having an opening in the front surface; interior shelves disposed to partition the storage chamber vertically; and illumination means located on the backside of the front end edges of the interior shelves and equipped on the inner sidewall of the storage chamber.
